Helping Our Pets Endure

Look into her eyes and you can see this 6 month old puppy has had a hard life.

UPDATE!

Abby has found her forever home!  Sandy Greer, from New Albany has opened her heart and home to her.  Abby still has at least 3 treatments left and will be on medication but she is doing great!

Email from Abby's new mom, Sandy:

I just wanted to write you a quick e-mail to let you know that Abby really adjusted well her first day here. She seems to have bonded well with Jason and I, and her and Sammy have made quick friends. They’ve followed each other around all night! ....

As told by Abby's Foster Mom, Holly:

After we found Abby running loose around the neighborhood, my husband went around asking our neighbors if she belonged to them.  At one house the lady said, "yes, that's our dog.  I'll send my husband over to get her."   When her husband came to get Abby, she ran and hid behind me.  He walked up to Abby and she cowered down as if she was scared to death.  He slapped, beat and kicked her all the way home.  I ran in and told my husband.  He went to the people's house and convinced them to let him have her.  Abby has been with us for about three weeks.

Can you imaging what this puppy has been through?  Holly and her husband is fostering Abby until we can find her a good home.  Abby started scratching to the point of making herself bleed.  Holly and her husband are glad to take care of Abby but can not at this time afford the medical treatment Abby needs.

Holly called HOPE for Pets for help.  We had Holly take Abby to the vet for a diagnosis and treatment to relieve her of this constant itching.  Abby has been diagnosed with démodé tic mange.  She was given an antihistamine shot and antibiotics to take at home.  The vet said she will need a series of dips.  These dips are $35.00 each and she will need them once a week until she is healed, which will be at least 6 times, maybe as many as 20.  She received her first one on October 14.  After she is healed she will receive her shots, be heartworm tested and spayed.  Abby will be on some type of medication for the rest of her life due to the mange.

Abby is a very sweet dog and deserves much better.  She gets along great with other dogs and is very good with children.

Can you help with Abby's medical expenses and give her the opportunity for a happy, pain-free life she so deserves?
