ALL ABOUT SENIORS

When HOPE for Pets was in the beginning planning stages, a senior for seniors placement program was agreed upon by everyone as being a program we wanted to offer. Due to the importance of matching the right senior pet with the right senior citizen, we decided to take our time with the development of this program to insure we knew the hows, whens, wheres and whys of implementing the program correctly.

As you know, things don’t always go as planned! Never did we know, while implementing our HOPE on Wheels program, we would be presented with a situation involving a Bullitt County senior, a veteran no less, who due to unfortunate circumstances was forced to give up his dog.  Even though it was close to a year ago, he still gets upset when talking about losing his pet. We could not turn our backs on him.

So, the search began. We wanted to make sure the match was right and the needs of the dog and the senior were met. After phone calls and visits to the local shelters and rescue groups were made, the search was extended to other groups throughout the state.
