Helping Our Pets Endure

BLACKIE

Blackie is a 3 year old Cocker Spaniel who was in dire need of medical treatment and grooming.  His ears were so infected he cried if you touched them.  He had huge mats weighing down his ears and hanging from his legs and under his body.  HOPE for Pets took Blackie to the vet to have him treated and groomed.  You can see from Blackie's After Pictures he has been given the much needed relief from the pain and discomfort he deserves.  Over 10 pounds of mats and hair were removed!  He almost died because his body went into shock after having all his hair removed.  Blackie went in to the vet weighing over 32 lbs and left weighing 22 lbs.  His right ear is full of ulcers and he tested heartworm positive.  HOPE has already paid over $375.00 in vet bills for this little guy.

Please help us continue to give Blackie the help he deserves!

We have some great news about Blackie. We took him back to the vet today for a follow up visit. When we went to pick him up, they had him tied to a tree again. He was already getting muddy again and his eyes were running probably due to allergies. We told Donna who works at the vet we were going to see if they would let us have him and find him a home where he can be inside and his medical issues taken care of.  She is the person who had to literally chisel the mats away from Blackie's skin.  Donna told us she would take him. She has 6 Cockers now and a good friend of hers just lost their's.  When we returned to Blackie's home, we sat down and talked to them about Blackie's care. We could not bare the fact we would have to chain him back to the tree. We explained to them the extent of what heartworms could do to him, the affect being outside all the time would have on his allergies and the need for him to be groomed. We told them we had found Blackie a good home if they would let him go.  Blackie's owners showed how much they really loved him.  They wanted the best for Blackie so they let us take him!

Even though Blackie has found his forever home, our obligations have not ended.  Blackie faces intensive treatment for heartworms and HOPE for Pets is helping pay for half of his treatment.  Feel good in knowing you helped this little dog have a better life!

Blackie Goes to His Forever Home

Blackie's new mom and dad came to pick him up.  They absolutely fell in love with him.  He is so full of energy and just feeling good.  He has gone to a wonderful home.

September - 2006

Blackie now goes by the name of Jack.

He has gone through his heartworm treatment and is now completely free of heartworms!

Jack sent us this note in a Thank You card along with the pictures below.

No more chains, no more matts!  Just lots of toys, friends to play with and room to run!

THANK YOU for your support!
